A Practical Completion Inspection (PCI) is an independent, non-invasive and visual inspection carried out at or near the practical completion stage of building works, prior to handover and occupancy.

The purpose of the PCI is to assist the owner in identifying visible defects, incomplete items, and apparent workmanship issues that may reasonably require rectification before final payment, handover, or occupation. The inspection is advisory in nature and is not a statutory certification.

The inspection is limited to areas of the building that are reasonably accessible at the time of inspection and where access can be gained without risk to safety or damage to the property.
